Tami Rosen is a Senior HR Executive with leadership expertise at startups and Fortune 100 companies like Atlassian, Luminar Technologies, Apple, and Goldman Sachs. She approaches HR with an agile, people-centric philosophy, developing cutting-edge initiatives that foster the inclusion and advancement of underrepresented populations, including Wall Street’s first, award-winning LGBT Ally Program. Tami not only sees people as a company’s most important asset but also envisions HR as a disruptive technology — an innovative force that redesigns and elevates businesses’ operations and capabilities beyond what was previously imaginable. A recognized thought leader, leadership program educator, and trusted advisor and coach to executive teams, Tami aims to transform the role of HR into an engine for high performance and innovation, one that motivates talent, executive leadership, and businesses to develop and maintain their full potential and resilience in the face of an ever-evolving landscape.

Innovating rather than Pioneering

  • The issue with ‘pioneering’ is the focus on being the first when that focus should be about realizing which challenges are most important and how to move forward.
  • The goal is to identify what is holding us back (as a company) and make the changes we want to see. It’s about being an innovator rather than a pioneer.

Tackling Company Norms

  • Unknowingly, we create norms that don’t allow everyone to bring their whole selves to the table.
  • You have to create multiple modes of communication, so everyone feels invited to the table. This is essential to boosting overall ideas and voices across a company.

Cultivating Identity

  • All of us have things that make us unique that we relate to at our core. It’s essential to link what’s core to you and your identities to your passions and work; in doing this, you are more excited to bring more of yourself to work.
  • The behaviors you reward and the ones you punish are what’s core to company culture. It’s about the decisions you make and how you navigate those situations.

Shifting Since BLM

  • Companies have experienced a major shift in addressing diversity since BLM and are trying to make a change. It’s important not to let this window close; this is an opportunity to make real change happen.
  • This is the opportunity to create spaces that let employees work without having to conceal their whole selves. We keep trying to design plans that don’t work; we have to change that.

Learning to be a Change Agent

  • Start with an idea
  • Find people to pressure test your idea and shape it
